Utah Rural Telecom Association (URTA) members gathered for their annual conference in St. George, UT March 26-28. URTA is an association representing 12 independent telephone companies whose facilities serve to provide technologically advanced telecommunications services in Utah’s rural areas.

Highlights of the conference included a presentation by Lynn Yocom, UDOT Fiber Optics Manager. Yocom’s comments included the praise of Americom’s use of Microtrenching technology throughout the 6-mile project on State Rt 12 near Escalante, UT where Americom has installed the fiber network under the asphalt with minimal disruption to traffic and the asphalt surface.

Microtrenching is an innovative method of utility construction Americom offers, making them a unique leader in the industry.
